When Sexuality Enters the Session

Building Competence + Confidence in Sex-Positive Client Conversations

Join us for a live + in-person training

Most adults will experience at least one sexual difficulty at some point in their life. Yet, even for the most seasoned therapist, conversations around sexual health and sexuality can feel intimidating.

This workshop is designed to replace some of that fear with confidence and concrete skills! In this four hour training, participants will explore a diversity of sexual values systems, learn sex ed essentials (turns out, it’s more than reproduction + STIs!), and begin a plan to cultivate the culture of sex-positivity they wish to create in their therapeutic spaces.

3.5 NASW CE hours available

By the end of this 4 hour in-person training, participants will:

  • Be able to identify their own values as they relate to sexuality and gender, and demonstrate approaches to navigating sexual value discrepancies in their therapeutic work.

  • Deepen their sexual health knowledge and confidence in trusted, evidence-based resources when discussing sexuality and sexual health with clients, including identification of community resources & referral connections.

  • Identify practices to destigmatize sexuality and model a culture of sex positivity within the context of the therapeutic relationship.

  • Build their own sex-positive practice plans (utilizing case studies as a guide) with actionable practices to bring into their work, from intake paperwork to exit sessions with clients.
